Broadcaster Conner Howell

My name is Conner Howell, and I am a recent Summa Cum Laude graduate of Troy University’s Hall School of Journalism and Communication where I earned a bachelors degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in advertising.

I began my broadcasting journey at Troy Public Radio upon first enrolling at Troy University and was tasked with doing weather reports, conducting interviews, as well as writing and voicing the weekly "Talk of Troy" Podcast.

To gain more experience in broadcasting, I also worked as a volunteer sports reporter at WTBF in Troy, AL. I was responsible for researching and reporting on area high school sports as well as Troy University sports.

I most recently completed my internship at WOPP/WAMI Covington Media LLC. This opportunity allowed me to gain more experience in the area of broadcasting. My responsibilities included working two live radio shows a day, "Covington Media Shopper’s Line" and "Mike and Friends" in the afternoon. Shopper’s Line is a show where people call in to buy sell or trade personal items. During the afternoon show, we played a mix of rock and outlaw country as well as informed the community of area happenings and events. While at my internship I was also responsible for the daily afternoon news cast, writing and recording commercials, recording the upcoming high school and college games for the week and more. Lastly, I also worked the control room for the Opp Bobcat football games. I believe all of these experiences thus far have made me a better broadcaster. I believe my time at Troy University has well prepared me for the work force. Please see samples of my work by clicking the links above.
